Feng Shui your home and bring good health and good fortune your way.
Have you every walked into a place and thought "This is lovely it feels warm and
friendly" and equally walked in somewhere else and thought "There is something
not right with this space". If you have then you are already in tune with Feng Shui,
you just may not know it.! Feng Shui is a beautiful ancient art which was developed
over 4000 years ago. It is the Chinese term for "wind and water". Feng Shui is
based on the premise that every object in our surroundings has an influence on
our lives. By altering how energy or "chi" flows around and through your
surroundings, you can promote happiness, prosperity and good health, and feel
energized, positive, and passionate about life.
What exactly is feng shui?
Feng Shui is a powerful way of making a positive change. It's a practice based on
the idea that our homes are a mirror of what's happening inside us. The purpose
of feng shui is to get our environment in alignment with who we are and where
we want to go. Essentially it is used to harmonize our energy with our home's
energy. Did you know that a fireplace sends energy out of a home? Something
as simple as placing a mirror above the mantel will bounces energy back in.
I knew there was a reason why all the old houses had mirrors over the mantels,
we have changed this tradition to pictures/canvases over recent years perhaps
it's time to change it back.
One of the main queries is around electronics in the house...And a question
often asked is "Can we have a TV in the living room?"
In feng shui, there are private (yin) spaces, like bedrooms, and public (yang) spaces
like living rooms. A TV in a public space is OK. A television often becomes the focal
point, which is fine if that's what you want. But if the intention of the room is to
gather the family to socialise, then keep the TV in something closed or in a
less-than central spot on the wall, so it doesn't dominate. For example in a
bedroom of a hotel, TV's are often found in a closed cabinet, there is a reason for
How many times have you been told to close down the toilet seat...ever
Keeping the toilet lid closed when not in use and especially when
flushing the toilet is aimed to prevent family wealth and finances from being
flushed from the house. Two of the sneakiest drains on your finances are
leaky pipes, toilets or water pumps that run all the time. If pipes leak, replace the
worn washers or other plumbing parts. When you have leaky pipes and toilets,
your finances are being syphoned off with unexpected expenses or a constant
out flow of income and resources.
Bedroom mirrors...Yes or No?
An important rule in Feng Shui is that if you can see yourself or any part of your
body through a mirror while lying in bed, the mirror needs to be covered up during intimacy and sleeping. Mirrored wardrobe closets, nightstand mirrors,
free-standing mirrors and mirrors on the ceiling can cause couples to fight,
restless sleep and bring in a third party or affair. Maybe move the mirror to the
hallway it will have the added advantage of opening up the hallway and creating
more light in the hallway.
